Abstract

627,399. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Sept. 16, 1947, No. 25255. [Class 112] The link 15, 20 connecting the feed-lift crank 13 with the feed-bar 6 is arranged for running adjustment to bring the upper position of the feed-dog 5 below the work-plate 3. The link comprises a guide plate 20 having an elongated hole 37 which embraces the crank-pin 17 and a link 15 which has two operative surfaces b, c for alternative engagement with the crank-pin. The link 15 is turned about the pivot 16 and relative to the plate 20 by a hand-operated crank 27 and link 29. A spring 21 holds the link 15 down into operative engagement with the pin 17. The link 15 is yieldingly held in each of its two positions by a spring-pressed plunger 33, carried by the plate 20 which enters one of the recesses 36 in the link 15. When the surface c is bearing on the pin 17, the teeth of the feed-dog do not rise above the work-plate when the dog is lifted.
