Duplex feed by dogs.-In a machine having two feed-dogs separately actuated to give differential feed, means are provided for putting the auxiliary feed-dog out of action, by moving it down clear of the work. In the overedge sewing-machine shown, the main and auxiliary feed-dogs 22, 23 are carried by feed-bars 24, 25 which engage a common feed-lift eccentric on the main shaft 18 and are slidable at their rear ends on pivotally-mounted blocks such as 28; the respective feed motions are derived from eccentrics on the shaft 18 through pitmans 37, 39, no alteration in feed being provided for except by changing the eccentrics. The pivot of the block 28 guiding the main feed-bar 24 is eccentric on a stud 52 which can be angularly adjusted to vary the height of the feed-dog 22, the feed-bar rocking on the feed-lift eccentric during adjustment. The pivot of the block 28 guiding the auxiliary feed-bar 25 is similarly mounted on an angularly-movable stud, but in this case the stud has an arm 44 connected to a treadle whereby the stud can be rocked through 90 degrees at will, against a spring 48, to raise that end of the feed-bar 25 and so lower the dog 23 clear of the work.
