[Class 112] Feed-bar mechanism of the fourmotion type for fitting in a small cylindrical work-arm comprises a vertical feed-bar with connections at two points for imparting to it work-feeding movements. In the form shown in Fig. 8, the feed-bar 26 is supported by a stud 27 passing through lugs on its lower end and resting in the forked end of a feed-lift rocker 28 on a rock-shaft 29. A feed rock-shaft 40 gives forward and backward movements to the lower end of the feed-bar by means of a forked arm 55 engaging the stud 27 and to the upper end of the feed-bar through a link 57 pivoted to the arm 55, a rocker 60 oscillating freely on the shaft 29, and a link 64. The feedlift rock-shaft 29 is actuated by an eccentric on the mainshaft 7, Fig. 3, of the machine through a pitman 33, rocker 35, 37, link 38, and arm 39, the connection between the rocker arm 37 and link 38 being adjustable. Feed, reversing and regulating.-The feed rock-shaft 40 is connected by a link 53, Fig. 3, to a rocker 52, 45, to which is pivoted the lower end of a lever 43 having a forked upper end embracing a cam 42 on the shaft 7. The oscillations of the lever 43 are given a vertical component, to actuate the rock-shaft 40, by engagement of a roller 47 on the lever with a slot 48 in a block which is pivoted on a pin 50 and is held in adjusted position on its pivot by a screw 51. Work supports.-In order' to adapt the cylindrical work-arm for work requiring a flat bed, a detachable work-plate W, Fig. 11, is provided. This has an aperture to fit over the throat-plate T, which projects above the upper surface of the work-arm 2, and a stirrup 71, with clamping-screw 72, to embrace the workarm; it is prevented from tilting by pins 69, carried by depending lugs, engaging holes in the main base 1a of the machine.
