Abstract

701,199. Sewing-machines. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. July 24, 1952 [Aug. 31, 1951], No. 18749/52. Class 112 Presser-feet. A stripperfoot 23 replacing the ordinary presser-foot for use in darning is movable in either direction from a neutral position on its support (normally the presserbar 22) and is yieldingly held in this position by a' spring engaging the support and the foot. In the form shown the spring 28 is a helical spring secured horizontally in the presser-bar 22, passing through a slot 30 in the shank 20 of the foot, and engaging a lug 27 on that shank; movement of the foot is limited by engagement of the spring with the ends of the slot. Any movement of the foot required by uneven work is accommodated by the spring, which also allows the foot to yield downwardly if struck by the needle clamp when the presser-bar is raised.
