Abstract

289,675. Sandt, M., and D³rkoppwerke Akt.-Ges. July 14, 1927. Feed by presser-feet. -An ordinary sewing- machine comprising a reciprocating presserbar and a feed dog is modified for the production of zig-zag stitches by mounting the presser bar so that the presser-foot may be given movements transversely of the line of stitching in order to displace the work in the same directions. In Fig. 2, the collar 6 through which the presser-bar 2 slides is adapted to be rocked by a cam 3 through a member 4 and a link 7. In Fig. 4 the guide 13 for the presser bar is pivoted at 14 and is jogged by the cam 3 through the parts 4, 7, 15. In each case the linkage is adjustable, and the device may be rendered inoperative. In a further modification, the guide 13 is jogged by a cam on a shaft which is rotated intermittently by a lug on the needle-bar engaging a star-wheel. The presser-foot 34 may co-operate with a grinding plate 29, Fig. 11, pivoted at 30 in a recess 28 of a stitch plate 29, Fig. 11, pivoted at 30 in a recess 28 of a stitch plate 27, a pin 32 on the plate 29 engaging a hole 36 in the presser-foot.
