[Class 112] In a high-speed sewing-machine in which a spring-pressed presser bar is lifted by the movements of a four-motion feed dog, means are provided to absorb the lateral thrust of the presser bar 12 on its bearing due to the lateral movement of the rising feed dog. In the form shown in Fig. 1, this lateral thrust is counteracted by a rigid pulley wheel 26 mounted on a bracket 24 at the base of the presser bar bearing 13. The pulley may be resiliently mounted on pivoted arms 36, Fig. 6, and pressed up to the presser bar by a blade spring 41. The blade spring 30 itself, Fig. 4, may be used to counteract the lateral thrust, tension being adjusted by the screw 31. In this case, the spring is slotted at 32 for the passage of the lifter lever 22.
