686,750. Condensers. HUNT, Ltd., A. H., and GROUSE, R. A. April 29, 1949, No. 11506/49. Class 37. A rolled condenser 18, Fig. 5, having an electrode exposed at one end and a second electrode exposed at its other end, is sprayed with metal over both end faces and provided with an axially extending terminal wire 24, the terminal wire 24 being soldered to the sprayed metal end faces 19, 20 and then heated electrically until it fuses within the roll as at 45 in Fig. 6, to form two separate terminals. The capacitor roll may be of the type comprising a single strip of paper 11, Fig. 1, having metallized areas along its length, the metallized areas 12 of one polarity extending up to one edge 13 of the paper and the metallized areas of the other polarity extending up to the opposite edge 14. The first dozen turns of paper in the roll should be of unmetallized paper to ensure that the electrical qualities of the capacitor are not effected by the fusing operation.
