Abstract
811,982. Lead-through capacitors. HUNT (CAPACITORS) Ltd., A. H. Aug. 7, 1956 [Aug. 5, 1955], No. 22656/55. Class 37. A lead-through capacitor has a thin flexible strip of dielectric material 12 wound on to a tubular insulator 11. The strip is metallized to form the capacitor electrodes so that areas of one polarity extend to one end of the roll and areas of the other polarity extend to the other end. This may be effected by dividing the metallized surface into two series of electrodes with an unmetallized band giving a castellated pattern as described in Specification 647,573. Connections are made by an internal eyelet 18 and an external eyelet 13 which make contact with the electrodes at the ends of the roll. The roll ends may be sprayed with metal and the eyelets soldered thereto. The dielectric material may be polyethylene terephthalate and may be vacuum dried and heat treated after winding.
