Abstract

759,911. Capacitors. HUNT (CAPACITORS), Ltd., A. H. July 30, 1954 [July 31, 1953, No. 21327/53. Addition to 647,573. Class 37. A capacitor comprising a modification of that described in the parent Specification wherein an insulating strip is metallized on one side and the metallizing is separated into two parts by a narrow demetallized band extending in a devious path down the length of the strip, consists of an insulating strip metallized on both sides and possessing a demetallized band on both sides extending in a devious path down the length of the strip. The Figures show a strip whereof the metallizing is separated into two portions 14, 15 by demetallized bands 12 and 13 on opposite sides of the strip, the portions 14 lying opposite the portions 15 on opposite sides of the strip, the corresponding edges in the two Figures being indicated by the letters A and B. The pitch of the pattern on the two sides of the strip is so chosen that when the strip is rolled to make a wound-type capacitor the portions 14 and 15 on one surface make contact with portions 14 and 15 respectively on the opposite side of the strip and forming part of the adjacent turn of the roll. Terminal connections are made by spraying or otherwise bonding metal to the ends of the roll. The insulating strip on which the metallizing is deposited preferably consists of polyethylene terephthalate or of polythene. Specification 680,472 is referred to.
