Abstract

758,784. Capacitors. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. July 23, 1954 [Aug. 1, 1953], No. 21587/54. Class 37. A wound capacitor comprises two metallized paper foils arranged with their unmetallized surfaces in contact and a further unmetallized insulating foil interposed between the metallized surfaces. The further foil 3 may be of paper which is lacquered to increase its dielectric strength or it may alternatively consist of a plastic strip. The edges of the foils 1 are unmetallized, the metallized edges of the two strips extending to opposite ends of the capacitor. The invention is applied to capacitors of the type wherein the electrodes burn away in the event of a puncture in the dielectric.
