Abstract

768,998. Capacitors. HUNT (CAPACITORS), Ltd., A. H. July 30, 1954 [July 31, 1953], No. 21320/53. Class 37. A wound or zig-zag folded type capacitor comprises at least one flexible dielectric strip 11 metallized on both sides, the metallizing 12 on one side of the strip extending up to one edge of the strip only, thus leaving an unmetallized margin at the opposite edge of the strip, while the metallizing 13 on the other side of the strip extends up to said opposite edge and an unmetallized margin is left at said one edge, the strip either being folded as indicated in Fig. 2 to produce a capacitor of the zig-zag type, or being associated with a second identical strip as shown in Fig. 4, the two strips then being wound to produce a roll-type capacitor as indicated in Fig. 5. Terminals for the capacitor are provided by spraying metal on to the edges of the folded stack or roll. The dielectric material may be polythene or polyethylene terephthalate and the dielectric strip may be firstly metallized completely over both surfaces, the margins being subsequently produced by conventional demetallizing techniques.
