Abstract
781,763. Capacitors. BRITISH DIELECTRIC RESEARCH, Ltd. April 7, 1955 [April 8, 1954], No. 10367/54. Drawings to Specification. Class 37. A wound-type capacitor has as its dielectric layer at least one strip of polythene film and at least one strip of impregnated paper. When there are two or more polythene strips the paper is arranged so that the polythene strips are nowhere in contact in the effective portion of the dielectric. Embodiments are referred to in which there is one strip of each type with aluminium foil electrodes of different widths between the polystrene strips and the paper strips and in which a paper strip is sandwiched between two polystrene strips and these are compared with capacitors having single and double layers of polythene. The capacitor is preferably dried and then impregnated with mineral or silicone oil. The electrodes may be of the deposited type.
