Abstract

876,477. Multiple capacitors. HUNT (CAPACITORS) Ltd., A. H. Feb. 26, 1958 [Nov. 30, 1956], No. 36758/56. Class 37. In a multiple capacitor assembly, the electrodes of either polarity are constituted by sets of parallel bands of metallization at respective faces of a dielectric sheet, each band being provided with a separate terminal connection, and the bands of the two sets extending perpendicularly to each other. Any two bands, one from either set, constitute the respective electrodes of a capacitive unit of the assembly. The bands may be of aluminium metallization deposited on either side of a polyethylene terephthalate dielectric sheet, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown). Alternatively, both sets of bands 21, 22 may be deposited on one side of a paper strip 20 which is subsequently wrapped around an insulating cylinder 24 and then cut in two longitudinally to enable a terminal to be connected to each individual band, Figs. 3 and 4. In a further embodiment, the two sets of bands are deposited on respective paper strips which are subsequently wound together, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown).
