Abstract
759,454. Capacitors. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Nov. 19, 1954 [Nov. 24, 1953], No. 33567/54. Class 37. In a stacked type capacitor which is formed by folding a strip comprising alternate layers of conducting and insulating material into zigzag form, the strip is formed by applying the varnish layer 2 over one face of an aluminium ribbon 1, coating the layer 2 with a metal layer 3 of narrower width than the coating 2 and extending to one edge thereof, applying a second varnish layer 4 and coating this with a further metal layer 5 again of narrower width but extending to the edge opposite from that to which the layer 3 extends. In the embodiment described further alternate varnish and metal layers 6, 7, 8 and 9 are applied as shown, the aluminium ribbon then being dissolved to provide a strip which is folded to zig-zag form as indicated in Fig. 1, the edges of the stack thus formed being coated with metal layers and connected to terminals indicated diagrammatically at A and B. The capacitor thus formed may be placed in a protective container.
