Abstract

550,419. Condensers. DUBILIER CONDENSER CO. (1925), Ltd. (Dubilier, W.). July 1, 1941, No. 8275. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 2, 1942.] [Class 37] A condenser is made by coating isolated metallic areas 2 on to both sides of an insulating sheet 1, for example, by spraying through a mask, and applying one above and one below, conducting strips 3, 6 to make contact with the coatings but not to extend inwards for enough to overlie one another. These strips extend outwards to form contact means. In the example, Fig. 9, the strip 6 is of comb-like formation. In modifications both strips may be plain as 3 or both of the form of strip 6. After application of strips such as 6, the continuous part 9 is cut off to leave a separate metallic contact tab 11 connected to each separate surface 2. More than one coated insulating sheet may. be stacked, with contact strips between each two. After assembly, an uncoated sheet 4 is applied and the strips-or tabs if cut strips are used-are folded over the edge of the sheet as shown in Fig. 10. This example forms a series of condensers with one common pole. The sheets or stack may be severed along the lines 10 to make separate small condensers.
