Abstract
579,576. Condensers. UNITED INSULATOR CO., Ltd., and HAMMOND, P. A. May 19, 1944, No. 9723. [Class 37] In an electrical condenser comprising stacked metal-coated sheets 7, 8, 9 of dielectric material, e.g., mica, each of the coatings 1-6, preferably of silver, extends over one end of the sheet on to the opposite surface, being separated from the main coating on that surface by an uncoated transverse band. The coated end edges of the sheet are so shaped that they offer a wider path to current flow than would a straight edge. For example the ends may be serrated as in Fig. 2 in the form of consecutive triangles or in sinuous form as with successive semicircles. The ends of the sheets at points adjacent to rivet holes 10-15 need not be indented to avoid weakening in this region.
