Abstract

615,394. Fusible cut-outs. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., BARNARD, J. H., and REEVES, H. L. Aug. 9, 1946, No. 23721. [Class 38 (i)] The cap of a cartridge-type fuse is formed with a flat end surface having an aperture through which the end of the fuse element is passed and a trough-like depression extending from the aperture for locating and securing the end of the element. As shown, a cap 4 for a fuse body 1 having a pair of fusible elements 3, is provided with apertures 5 and with a trough-shaped depression 6 extending between them. The cap is fitted on the body 1 so that the elements 3 pass through the apertures 5, the elements then being bent over into the depression 6 which is then flooded with solder. In modifications, the body and cap may be adapted for more than one pair of fuse elements. The cap may also be formed of two parts, one part having apertures and the other part superposed on it containing a slot, thus forming a trough between the apertures.
