Abstract
864,657. Two-part couplings. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 14, 1959 [Jan. 14, 1958], No. 13568/58. Class 38 (1). A pin contact comprises a strip of resilient metal bent transversely to form a pair of arms 2, 3, the outer ends of which are outwardly bent to form flanges 4, 5 whilst lugs 6, 7, 8 are bent out from the edges of the arms intermediate their ends. The lugs and flanges are adapted to snap into engagement with opposite faces of a panel 10 when the pin is pushed through an aperture 9 therein as shown in Fig. 4. The panel may have a printed circuit thereon to which the contacts are dip-soldered (Fig. 5, not shown) or it may form part of the body of a plug with circularly arranged contacts (Fig. 7, not shown). Where the contact is to be dip-soldered, the inner ends of the arms 2, 3 may be covered with a resist to prevent them being wetted by solder. In another construction (Fig. 9, not shown) the arms 2, 3 are formed with longitudinal ribs to increase their rigidity.
