Abstract

861,426. Two - part couplings. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. July 1, 1959 [July 1, 1958]. No. 22609/59. Class 38 (1). An electrical contact 10 for assembly in a aperture 12 of a panel 14 carrying a printed circuit 16 comprises a generally U-shaped strip of resilient metal having a bight 18 and a pair of legs 20 formed with reversely bent serrated free ends 22 and shank portions 32, 34 and 36 separated by slits 28 extending through the bight 18. The opposite sides of the leg portion 34 are bent to form a restricted throat to receive an inserted blade contact 43. Shoulders 44, formed on opposite sides of the portions 32, 36 as shown in Fig. 7, are snapped through the aperture 12 and then deformed by means of a mandrel and die (Fig. 5, not shown) so that they abut the lower surface of the panel 14 and the free ends 22 bite into the circuit 16.
