Abstract

The edge connector socket clip comprises a single metal strip folded into the desired doubled-back shape in the conventional manner. Each side of the clip has a pair of longitudinal slots cut in it, each with an opening at the upper end. When the metal is bent the sections delimited by the slots are forced away from the rest of the clip outer faces. The clip walls converge to knees (6) which form a constriction past which the inserted plate of the male connector move. The separated central sections have their upper ends bent (5) so as to clip into the openings formed in the faces and also forming edges which bear against the underside of the connector housing (2), thus lodging the clip firmly in place. The upper ends (4) are bent over to grip the top faces of the housing where they can be soldered into place. Contact with the inserted plate at four points is achieved.
