Abstract

578,171. Condensers. UNITED INSULATOR CO., Ltd., and HAMMOND, P. A. May 24, 1944, No. 10096. [Class 37] In an electrical condenser the metal coatings of a stacked series of dielectric sheets, e.g., mica, are connected by means of foils 8, each consisting of an annular lug 9 and a pair of symmetrically disposed lugs 11 which can be super-imposed on the lug 9 by folding about lines 15. Lugs 11 are preferably of the open fork type to facilitate assembly. Referring to the assembly on the right hand side of Fig. 1, lug 9 of a foil 8 is threaded on a rivet E, followed by a cover plate A and mica sheet a, one lug 11 then being folded over. Mica sheets band c are then positioned and the second lug 11 folded over, followed by a lug 9 of a second foil 8 for similar connection of mica sheets d, e, f, g. The left hand side assembly is analogous and proceeds simultaneously.
