Abstract
805,321. Capacitors. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Sept. 30, 1955 [Oct. 7, 1954], No. 27894/55. Class 37. In a wound capacitor of the self-healing type and comprising a metal carrier foil 1, Fig. 5, coated with dielectric layers 2, 2<SP>1</SP> on which are deposited metallic electrode layers 3, 3<SP>1</SP> connection is made between the layers 3, 31 and a corresponding terminal 8 by means of a dielectric strip, Fig. 1, which is coated on one side with a metal layer 4, the strip being folded about the terminal 8, as shown in Fig. 4, and laid upon one of the metal layers 3, as shown in Fig. 5, so that when the capacitor strip is rolled up the portion 4<SP>1</SP> of the metal layer 4 makes contact with electrode layer 3 and the portion 4<SP>11</SP> makes contact with the electrode layer 3<SP>1</SP>. Such a construction ensures that the self-healing properties of the capacitor are not adversely affected by the connection of the terminal to the electrode layers.
