Abstract

684,803. Valve amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Aug. 13, 1951 [Dec. 14, 1950], No. 30581/50. Class 40 (vi). In a high-power cathode-follower stage V, the control grid is prevented from being accidentally driven positive by providing (1) bias resistance means R1, R2, R3 in the cathode lead to bias the control grid negatively as soon as the bias supply is switched on, (2) high-tension and bias supply smoothing circuits of such timeconstants as to ensure the grid remains negative during the transient periods when the hightension is switched on or, after it is switched off, the grid bias supply is switched off, and (3) a diode D connected between the control grid and earth via delay bias means R6, R7, R8 together with shunt condenser Cl, which provides a conductive path if, during normal operation the control grid of the valve V is driven positive with respect to the cathode.
