Abstract

644,402. Valve circuits. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS, Ltd. Dec. 2, 1947, No. 31858. [Class 40 (vi)] In an oscillator or amplifier operating with grid current, the grid current is maintained constant by using the anode-cathode path of a tetrode or like constant-current device as grid leak. The grid-cathode path of an oscillator V1 comprises a choke 13 and resistance 12 and the anode-cathode path of a tetrode V2. The screen of the valve V2 is connected over a current-limiting resistance 14 to a source of potential which is fixed relative to that of the cathode, and which may comprise a resistance and gas-discharge tube in series between anode and cathode. The grid of the valve V2 is connected to cathode; alternatively the grid potential may be made variable in order to control the current through the valve. A resistance 16 connected in parallel with the valve V2 prevents instability due to secondary emission irregularities.
