Abstract
537,300. Valve circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., HILL, F. R., and SAMSON, G. G. Dec. 15, 1939, No. 32304. [Class 40 (v)] In a push-pull amplifier or oscillator, spurious oscillation in,the parallel anode is prevented by the provision of a negative feedback circuit which reduces the gain in the parallel anode but which has substantially no effect upon the gain on the push-pull anode. In the case of an oscillator the feed-back is in regenerative phase. The first push-pull stage of a Class B audiofrequency amplifier is shown in which negative feedback for reducing distortion in taken from the final stage (not shown) and applied to the grid circuit of the valves V, V1 of the first stage through a wide range transformer T, and input bridges B. Negative feed-back is also applied by means of an unbyepassed cathode resistance R which feed-back reduces the gain of the stage for parallel operation without affecting the gain for push-pull operation. The increase in grid bias is offset by applying a positive voltage to the grids of valves V, V1 by means of a potentiometer P across the plate supply. Alternatively the resistance R may be of a value to give the desired grid bias, and a choke in series with the resistance may be used for the negative feed-back.
