[Class 40 (vi)] A valve amplifier includes several negative feed-back paths, one at least of which is only brought into operation when the amplitude of the input voltage exceeds a fixed quantity. As shown, an amplifier is provided with a continuously operative feed-back path comprising condensers 17 and 19, and resistances 19 and 20 connected between the anode of output valve 14 and the cathode of input valve 12. A second feed-back path is also provided comprising two rectifiers 21 and 22 and resistances 23, 24, 25 and 26 connected across the high tension supply. Current can only flow in this path when the voltage across the rectifiers exceeds that across its associated resistance. Further feed-back paths may be provided, each cutting in at different amplitude voltage levels. Specification 608,710 is referred to.
