[Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXIX] An amplifying circuit with valves 10, 101 each having individual negative feed-back impedances 18, 181 is controlled by a variable impedance 19 which adjusts the output of the valves simultaneously and is in shunt to the fixed impedances 18, 181. As shown in Fig. 1, the valves are arranged in push-pull but according to Fig. 3 (not shown), three valves are arranged in tandem, the first and third having negative feed-back, and the variable impedance 19 is connected between the cathode sides of the usual feed-back impedances. The impedance 19 may be a silver sulphide non-linear resistance so as to be selfvariable. The push-pull arrangement can be used in the control circuit of an amplifier of carrier signals, its output being used to heat a silver sulphide resistance in the feed-back path of the carrier amplifier.
