Abstract

618,789. Loud-speaker circuits. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Aug. 14, 1946, No. 24120. Convention date, Aug. 3, 1945. [Class 40 (iv)] A system comprising loud speakers L<SP>1</SP>, L2 responsive to high- and low-frequencies respectively and arranged to present a flat impedance characteristic to the output of the valve 1 is provided with means for distorting the input to the valve to compensate for differing efficiencies of the loud-speakers. Thus, if L<SP>1</SP> is less efficient than L<SP>2</SP>, the required distortion may be achieved by means of a resistance and inductance connected in series across the grid and cathode of the valve, or as shown, Fig. 5, by means of a negative feedback circuit comprising a resistance R<SP>1</SP> and a condenser C<SP>1</SP> in parallel. If L<SP>1</SP> is more efficient than L<SP>2</SP>, the inductance is replaced by a capacity and vice versa in the above-mentioned circuits. A negative feedback circuit according to the invention for a push-pull arrangement is also given, Fig. 6 (not shown).
