Abstract
479,808. Valve amplifying circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. April 1, 1937, No. 9300. Convention date, April 1, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] In an amplifier in which a negative feedback connection forms one diagonal of a bridge of which the other diagonal is formed by the load circuit and in which one of the arms comprises the discharge path of the output valve, a non-linear resistance such as that made from silicon carbide and clay as described in U.S.A. Specification 1,822,742 is used in another arm to ensure that the bridge remains balanced in spite of impedance variations in the discharge path. As shown in the Figure, the output valve is operated class B fashion and the non-linear resistance T is arranged in series with a blocking condenser and so is affected only by changes in the alternating current through it. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the non-linear resistance is in the position occupied in Fig. 1 by the resistance KRO and so responds to changes in the steady plate current as well as to changes in alternating current.
