Abstract
503,083. Valve amplifying circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and MEERS, R. A. Sept. 28, 1937, No. 26250. [Class 40 (v)] The output circuit of an amplifier between the output electrode and earth includes a negative feed-back impedance which comprises a non-linear resistance or resistances the value of which is varied by a gain-controlling voltage. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, a feed-back resistance R3 common to the anode and grid circuits of an amplifier V1 is shunted by a bridge W of metal rectifiers one diagonal of which is connected through condensers C5, C6 across the resistance R3, the other diagonal being connected across a source DC of gain controlling potential. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2, the feed-back resistance R3 with its variable shunt W1 is connected across one diagonal of a bridge of resistances R5 .... R8 across the other diagonal of which is connected the output transformer T2, the resistance R5 of the bridge being in series with condenser C3 between the anode and cathode of the amplifier V1. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 479,388.
