Abstract

678,493. Overhead-travelling jib cranes. SUOMINEN, L. E. O. Nov. 24, 1950. [May 10, 1950] No. 28793/50. Class 78 (iv). In the crane illustrated the trolley 4, running on rails 2, carries a circular track 8 which guides rollers 10 supporting a slueing frame 9. A jib 14 is luffed about an axis 14a relatively to the frame 9 by tackle 16, 17 operated by an electrically driven hoist block 15 and is shaped as shown so that its free end, which carries hoisting tackle (not shown), may be raised to lie substantially level with the rails 2. The jib 14 and frame 9 are slued by a motor 11 carried on the frame, 9 and connected through reduction gearing with internal teeth on the trolley 4. The trolley is traversed along the rail 2 by suitable means 7 operated from an electric motor 5. The driver's cab 18 is suspended from the trolley 4.
