Abstract

775,128. Tower cranes. TICHAUER SOC. A R. L., M. Sept. 21, 1954 [Sept. 22, 1953]. No. 27241/54. Class 78 (4). The boom F and counter-boom CF, Fig. 1, of a tower crane together slew on the tower and are raised and lowered by the hoisting cable. As illustrated the hoisting cable is secured at r to the counter-boom and passes over pulleys supported by a slewing member B at the top of the tower, under a pulley P<SP>1</SP>, to the load trolley I and thence over a pulley P at the end of the boom to a winch T. When the cable is to be used for raising the load block U it is secured by a cable grip S on the boom. When it is to be used for raising and lowering the boom and counter-boom the lower block U is first pulled up to the carriage I. The tower is formed of several similar sections, terminating in braced frames C, Fig. 2, carrying brackets R pivoted about vertical axes and supporting rollers A for engaging collars V, Fig. 1, on the boom structure.
