Compound road vehicles.-A locomotive crane for use in confined spaces for lifting, or lifting and transporting, comprises a crane unit C or K adapted to be readily connected to a self-propelled truck and to be manoeuvred or slued by means of the truck. A jib-crane, or overhead traveller, is mounted on a twowheeled base connected by a universa.! joint A<1> with a bed-plate A which can be secured to the frame of an electrically-propelled truck B. The hoisting and luffing mechanisms G, on the crane unit may be driven by a motor E taking power from the truck cells. The controls for the crane unit are mounted on a table A<3> which comes adjacent to the truck controls when the truck and the crane unit are assembled. When the crane unit is to be disconnected, the jib or runway is supported by securing the load hook to an eye X in the floor.
