1,055,421. Load handling machines; jib cranes; loading and unloading vehicles. A. E. TOWNSEND. Feb. 27, 1964 [Feb. 28, 1963], No. 7979/63. Headings B8B, B8E and B8H. A jib crane A is mounted on a platform F which is guided for rectilinear raising movement relative to a base-plate L by pillars and rods H, G. The movement is effected by an hydraulic jack I. The load Z is lifted by hand- or poweroperated winding gear Q while the jib C can be buffed by a hand spindle P. The crane can be slewed by handles S rotating a turntable E. A hook or claw may be attached directly to the jib C or a fork lift, Fig. 4 (not shown), guided relative to the pillars H by an adjustable bearing bar V may be attached to the lifting naps. The base-place L may be provided with castors L or may be mounted on a self-propelled vehicle or trailer or it may be static. The winding gear may be operated by a piston and cylinder actuated by the same source of hydraulic power as is used for the jack I.
