Abstract

1,179,513. Jib cranes; counterbalancing apparatus. SCHWEKMASCHINENBAU S.M. KIROW VEB. 4 July, 1967, No. 30836/67. Heading B8B. A mobile jib crane comprises an upper carriage 4, supported on an undercarriage 2 and having mounted thereon a counterweight 1, the latter being movable between its mounted position and a position in which it lies on the undercarriage 2, by rams 5 disposed on the upper carriage 4. In the latter position the counterweight equalizes the axle loads for crane travel, the crane being disposed so that the driver's cab 3 is above the counterweight. The rams 5 are disposed one on each side of the carriage 4 and have connected thereto wedges 6 which co-operate with bars 7 mounted in the counterweight. The bars 7 have rollers 9 for engagement with the wedges 6 and projections 10 for engagement with shafts 12 fixed in the counterweight. The wedges have slopes 13 for lifting the bars 7 and slopes 14 for retaining the bars in their lifted positions. In operation, the bars 7 are lifted manually so that the rollers can be engaged by the wedges 6, when the counterweight is to be lifted, and the bars drop back on retraction of the wedges when the counterweight is lowered. The bars 7 are guided by members it and a catch member is provided for engaging cover-plates 8, Fig. 4 (not shown).
