Abstract
677,222. Luminescent materials. UNITED STATES RADIUM CORPORATION. Sept. 8, 1945 [Nov. 21, 1944], No. 23189/45. Also in Group 39 (i). A luminescent screen for X-ray detection comprises zinc cadmium sulphide activated by silver but with nickel excluded, the proportion of cadmium sulphide being from 38-70 per cent. Above 70 per cent the brightness is low. Copper, gold and manganese may also be present as activators. The amount of silver is from one part in 3000 to one part in 100,000; the preferred amount being one part in 20,000; copper or gold should not exceed one part in 100,000 and manganese one part in 10,000. The dominant wavelength of the fluorescent colour is 559 to 618 millimicrons. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 440,818, (Group XX].
