639,397. Luminescent materials. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Oct. 23, 1946, No. 31492. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1943. [Class 39 (i)] A screen for converting the energy of X-rays into light contains a layer of luminescent material comprising selenides or sulphoselenides of zinc and/or cadmium and of thickness smaller than 0.3 mms. The thickness of the layer is preferably not less than 0.05 mms. The colour of the luminescent light can be altered by the use of silver or copper activators.
