Abstract
577,694. Luminescent materials. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 24, 1944, No. 9996. Convention date, May 29, 1943. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] Luminescent material comprises a matrix of alkaline earth metal silicate co-operatively activated with manganese and lead. The material may be made by heating a mixture of calcium carbonate, silica, lead oxide and manganese carbonate. This reaction should take place in the presence of steam at a temperature between 1000‹ to 1250‹ C. Firing in air is possible, but it takes longer to complete the reaction and a product of inferior brightness is produced.
