Abstract
650,040. Luminescent materials. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS, Inc. Aug. 5, 1947, No. 21274. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1945. [Class 39 (i)] A zinc silicate luminescent material such as zinc beryllium silicate or zinc orthosilicate, is activated conjointly with manganese, and lead, the lead oxide content being between 0.03 per cent and 0.20 per cent of the equivalent zinc oxide content by weight. Zinc beryllium silicate, manganese and lead-activated, is prepared by precipitating lead nitrate on zinc oxide in an aqueous suspension by the use of ammonium carbonate. The resulting combination of zinc oxide and lead carbonate after filtering and drying, is mixed with beryllium oxide, silica and manganese carbonate, and fired. Specification 581,951 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the activation of calcium silicate conjointly with manganese and lead. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
