Abstract

695,103. Luminescent materials. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and WELLS, R. S. May 24, 1949 [April 6, 1948], No. 9621/48, Class 39(i) A luminescent material consists of calcium oxide activated by molybdenum tungsten or chromium. Calcium carbonate or any other calcium compound yielding calcium oxide upon heating may be used as starting material and the activating metal is present in an amount 1-16 per cent of the weight of the calcium carbonate or its equivalent. Firing is for 1 hour at 1150‹C or higher temperature up to 1250‹C. and the fluorescent colour varies from yellow to pink and orange pink.
