Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a fluorescent substance having enhanced temp. dependence of luminance and a specific compsn. of Tb-activated aluminum phosphate of at least one of Y, Gd and La.
CONSTITUTION: The fluorescent substance is represented by formula I (where Re is at least one of Y, Gd and La, 0.25≤n≤1,3, 0.01≤x≤0.5, 0≤y≤0.3 and 0≤z≤ 0.9). Part of Al and P of the Tb-activtaed aluminum phosphate may be replaced by Si, and Ce may be substituted for part of Re as coactivator. The fluorescent substance is easily produced by a usual metode. For example, oxide, carbonate, nitrate, etc. of Re consisting of at least one of Y, Ga and La, Tb and optionally Ce, and alumnum phosphate are blended with SiO2 and a flux if desired, finely pulverized, uniformly mixed, and calcined.
