5 88 ,2 9 5 . Luminescent materials. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS, Inc. April 29, 1944, No. 8086. Convention date, Dec. 8, 1942. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] A mixture of luminescent to give white light is prepared by selecting phosphors with trichromatic coefficients, each of winch is located on the same straight line substantially tangential to the locus of the trichromatic coefficients of black body radiation between temperatures of 2575‹ C. and 6227‹ C. An example is a mixture of manganese activated zinc beryllium silicate with silver activated zinc sulphide. The coefficients of the silicate can be adjusted by varying the ratio of zinc to beryllium and by varying the firing time and activator concentration. The sulphide coefficients can be varied by choice of activators, their concentration and firing time and temperature. As the area of a powder exposed to the bombardment of an electron beam is affected by the particle size, if coarse powder is used for a particular component, a greater amount should be used than if fine powder were employed.
