Abstract

PURPOSE: A novel fluorescent substance, capable of giving yellowWred emission of high brightness with low-speed electron rays, having a low threshold voltage, expressed by a specific structural formula, and comprising a (Zn, Cd)S mixed crystal, an Au activator, an Al coactivator, In2O3, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent substance expressed by the formula (0<x≤0.7; 0.4<A<0.98; 0.02<B<0.6; MO is In2O3, SnO2, ZnO, TiO2 or WO3). The substance can be obtained as follows: ZnS and CdS are weighed at a mixing ratio x of 0<x≤0.7, and calcined with a flux at 800W1,200°C for 1W10hr to form a mixed crystal of (Zn1-xCdx)S. An Au activator and an Al coactivator in the form of a chloride, preferably in an amount of 10-5W10-3 atom/mol (based on the mixed crystal matrix), are added and calcined if necessary. The resulting fluorescent substance (F) is then mixed with an electrically conductive substance (E) e.g. In2O3, at a weight ratio of (E) to (F) of 0.02:1W0.6:1.
EFFECT: Easy multicolored display, and a color plane display device is expectable.
