Abstract

PURPOSE: A novel fluorescent display tube in which specific elements such as boron or aluminum and tin are added to the emitting layer of stannic oxide activated with europium to permit the orange emission with high brightness by low-speed electron rays.
CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent substance containing stannic oxide and 10-8W2× 10-1 gram, per gram of the stannic oxide, of europium, calculated as europium oxide, is combined with boron, aluminum, gallium, indium and/or thallium by 10-8W2×10-1 gram per gram of stannic oxide, calculated as oxides. When electric charge is observed, tin is added to the mixture by 5×10-5W2×10-1 gram, calculated as tin sulfide to form the emitting layer and give the objective fluorescent display tubes.
