Abstract

PURPOSE: An afterglowing fluorescent body emitting red light that is made by adding manganese and cerium to a fluorescent body of zinc magnesium orthphosphate in a specific proportion, thus improving the brightness.
CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent body that is composed according to the equations (0.01≤x≤0.10; 0.001≤y≤0.010; 0.001≤z≤0.020). The fluorescent body of x=0.10; y=0.005; z=0.005 in the above equations gives emitting screens with the same brightness as when existing fluorescent is used and the uneveness in the brightness is not observed at all.
EFFECT: The use of said fluorescent body improves the quality of emitting screens and permits the cost down in the production of colored cathode tubes because expensive rare-earth fluorescent body emitting red light becomes unnecessary and the stage mixing fluorescent bodies can be omitted.
