Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a fluorescent material emitting bright green light by X-ray excitation and suitable for an X-ray image conversion screen such as intensifying paper, by doping a specific rare-earth metal-tantalum-boron compound oxide with Tb. CONSTITUTION:The objective fluorescent material of formula [Ln is Y, La, Gd, or Lu (preferably Gd); 0.95<=m<=1.05 (preferably 0.98<=m<=1.02); 0.01<=n<=5.0 (preferably 0.1<=n<=0.2); 5X10<-4=z<=0.1 (preferably 2X10<-3=z<=5X10<-2>)] can be produced by doping a rare-earth metal-tantalum-boron compound oxide composed of an oxide of rare-earth element, tantalum oxide and boron oxide with Tb.
