Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a cathode-ray tube providing a high emission luminance with a low acceleration voltage, by using a luminous screen made of a zinc-sulfide porcelain confaining luminous impurities. CONSTITUTION:A zinc-sulfide porcelain 1 containing an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal or the like, as well as luminous impurities, is employed as a luminous screen. The luminous impurities comprises, for example, an activator made of not less thanone element of Ag, Cu, Mn and Tb, and a coactivator made of not less than one element of Al, Ga, Cl, Br and I. The use of the emitter made of the zinc-sulfide porcelain having a fine and smooth surface increases the emission luminance. Thus a new cathode-ray tube providing a high luminance with a low acceleration voltage can be obtained.
