Abstract

Luminescent compsn. contains ZnO and a phosphor (I) selected from the gp. (Zn1-x, Cdx) S:Cu, Al (in which x is 0-0.1, Y3(Al1-y, Ga)5O12-Ce (in which Y is 0-0.5), Zn2SiO4:Mn, (gamma 1-z, Laz)2O2S:Ib (in which Z is 0-1), SrGa2S4-Eu2+, ZnS:Eu, the wt. ratio of ZnO and (I) being 1:9-9:1. Used in displays stimulated by slow electrons, e.g. in tubes of the diode or triode type. Light of great brightness and high colour purity is emitted on stimulation with slow electrons, esp. at acceleration potentials of 100V. Pref. the display equipment is based on an anode plate with a luminescent screen on one side, facing a cathode, sealed in an evacuated tube.
