Abstract

Fluorescent compsn. contains In 2O3 (pref. calcined) and a phosphor (I) in 1-9 to 9-1 (1-4 to 4-1) wt. ratio. (I) is (La1-x, Yx)2O2S:Ib (O =x =1), (Zn1-x, Cdx)S: Cu, Al (O =x =1), SrGa2S4:Eu2+, Y3 (Al1-y, Gay)5O12:Ce (0 =y =0.5), Zn2SiO4: Mn, Y2O2S:Tb, ZnS:Ag, Y2O2S:Eu. Y2O3: Eu or YVO4:Eu. The claims also cover the use of this phosphor for the screen of a fluroescent display (tube) stimulated by low energy (slow) electrons. Strong light emission of pure colour (green, blue or red) is obtd. using electrons with an acceleration potential of under 100 V. In an example, 3 pts. wt. In2O3 and 7 pts. wt. La2O2S: Tb (5 x 10-2 Tb/g) were mixed thoroughly, giving a fluorescent compsn. with bright green emission and a higher colour purity than ZnO. Sn on stimulation with slow electrons.
