Abstract
812,805. Electroluminescent screens. EGYESULT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI R.T. Feb. 22, 1957 [Feb. 22, 1956], No. 6063/57. Addition to 809,914. Class 39(1). A cathode ray tube is provided with a screen comprising a first transparent conducting coating 2, two electroluminescent layers 4, 5 and a second conducting coating 3, the electroluminescent layer 4 when impacted by electrons producing a short wavelength light capable of exciting the electroluminescent layer 3, the required field being applied to layers 2, 3 by leads 6, 7. The layer 4 may be zinc sulphide activated by silver, calcium tungstate activated by lead and cerium or a halophosphate activated by antimony. The layer 3 is preferably zinc sulphide activated by copper the thickness of each layer 2-5 may vary from 2 to 20 microns.
